In 2005 Professor Marin Soljačić and his team at MIT developed the theory that you could transfer electricity over a distance. Later in 2007 they managed to turn theory in to reality by illuminating a light bulb over a 2-meter distance. With this began the development of the WiTricity technology.
How WiTricity Works
WiTricity is the technological process of transferring electricity from a traditional source into a magnetic field, similar to the magnetic field that currently flows around the earth. In WiTricity enabled devices, such as a mobile phone, there is a receiver that transfers the magnetic field back into electricity.
