How WiTricity Works
WiTricity is the technological process of transferring electricity from a traditional source into a magnetic field, similar to the magnetic field that currently flows around the earth. In WiTricity enabled devices, such as a mobile phone, there is a receiver that transfers the magnetic field back into electricity.
The trick is that the magnetic field resonates at a particular frequency, unique to this technology. Only devices that can pick up this frequency will be able to absorb the magnetic field meaning other devices and objects are not affected. This is what makes this technology so safe as it is not absorbed by the body. In fact it’s safer than some WiFi frequencies.
In the coming years we will see more and more devices becoming WiTricity enabled meaning wires in the home and the office will become a thing of the past. In fact, battery life will take on a new role of keeping you going between WiTricity Hotposts rather than days at a time. Additionally this opens the doors for thinner, more compact and more powerful mobile devices.
